Gia-London now online - yippeeeee!
Tuesday, 24 August 2010 00:00

The fabulously feminine label Gia-London and I go way back. I have flashbacks of me in my shopping haven Portobello market using the little cash I had, in my purse meant for paying the TV license but instead used to treat myself to a wonderful new Saturday night outfit, the consequences could wait! I also will not forget the very generous donation they made towards my event auction last October .Fashionista's Night Out for The Children's Trust' was lucky to have one of their beautifully designed and made dresses worth £249 as the star item.

IronCamera

Since October, I have eagerly awaited the entrance into the world of e-commerce and today, I am thrilled to see they have arrived!

So, why have I had to wait for so long? Well, I guess dressing girlbands such as The Saturdays and featuring on Gok's Fashion Fix as well as supplying their masterpieces to a carefully selected group of luxury boutiques in London, Japan, Dubai, Ireland, Greece and Cypress may have a little something to do with it?

Why have I and our most trusted national magazine style bibles gone a little gaga for Gia-London? It's simple, "The Gia London Designer Range is fresh and distinctive and is for those individuals that look to fashion as more than a seasonal trend and pride themselves in proudly and confidently standing out from the crowds of fashion followers. Our style philosophy draws inspiration from positivity and a strong belief in always looking and feeling good about ourselves. The effervescent lust for life we see in our customers has helped us create our signature style of English romance coupled with an exotic ‘je ne sais quoi’.The results; exquisite, timeless, classic, unique pieces which reflect and capture that carefree, heady abandon of summers past and spread it over seasons, a style which radiates warmth from the inside out whatever the weather."

For me, wearing my Gia-London dress makes me feel as though its true love, the dress was made for me and only me. I am adorned by luxury and sparkle like a star. We'll be together forever! Every girl needs to get herself one.

A/W Inspirations
Saturday, 14 August 2010 16:04

Summer? What summer. We are apparently mid August but looking outside the window, you could never tell. Many of us will be dipping into our A/W2010 wardrobe to borrow a few key pieces we didnt think would see the grey of the day until at least early October.

How are we meant to dress for an occassion with a smart chic dress code not knowing what the weather is going to do from one minute to the next and wanting to mix S/S2010 and the new seasons key trends? Inspired by many of the labels showcased at London / New York / Milan and Paris Fashion weeks, here's my take on smart chic and youthful cool......

TOP 5 hot style tips for Summer from Anna Moore, Personal Stylist at Westfield London

TOP 5 hot style tips for Summer from Anna Moore, Personal Stylist at Westfield London
Anna Moore, Personal Stylist at Westfield London, has extensive personal styling and commercial fashion experience. As a stylist she has advised hundreds of women and men around the UK on the look that is both current and right for them.
Anna has very kindly taken time out of her busy styling schedule to share her top five essentials for any woman wanting to be on trend this summer!
Denim
“Double denim is the trend so pull out that old denim jacket or faded chambray shirt and team it with fabulous jeans. The key to working this look is to mix the shades - dark with light/ clean with distressed. My favourite item is a classic white denim jacket, £35 by Gap which looks great with maxi dresses, shorts or dark denim.”
Polka dots
“If there is anything dotty in the wardrobe it must come out! This season’s "new stripes" can be worn alone, clashed with prints or teamed with denim. If in doubt add a spotty scarf! Spots look most at home on playsuits and 50s dress - like the sunshine yellow halter neck Canara Dress by Hobbs, £99.”
The Maxi
“The hot shape of the summer, the maxi is the most flattering and comfortable item out there. Perfect for wearing at home, or at others’ homes. It is easy to dress up and dress down. Just choose wedges and jewels or flip flops and a denim jacket. Add a blazer, belt and heels and enjoy the added height wearing full length brings! The maxi is also summers suitcase essential. Buy wisely and it can even be rolled – a packing joy. The best buys are long and lean or fluid jersey, but for all out glamour choose Day Birger’s (House of Fraser) Grecian style silk Marilyn dress in skin pink, £199.“
Go nude
“Not literally, I mean choose one of the fabulous tones around from palest peach to dark mocha! It is so chic to be dressed in understated tones of nudity. If you are pale (you may need a spray tan!) choose tones darker than your natural skin colour. You can also team your nude with black, pewter, navy, apricot or gold. This gives lots of options for accessorising your look.  My favourite dress is Sassy in nude by Reiss, £169.
“Alternatively use nude to accessorise your look, nude shoes look fabulous with black, navy, chocolate or grey and create a miracle by elongating your legs. My favourite shoes are Elise by Dune, £75.”
Shorts
“Shorts are where it’s at, preferably denim and high waisted. The best pair is the Basque jeans short at Top Shop, £30. If you don’t like to expose too much leg you could go nautical with a navy knee length pair, team with a shirt and heels et voila!!”
Finally, Anna shares her style secret "Dress each day as if you will bump into the person you most want to see regardless of what you are doing and where you are going!"

Summer’s here? Let’s go nude!
Sunday, 06 June 2010 23:53

It seems that summer has finally decided to make an appearance over in London town much to everyone’s delight which means no more wellies and scarves for us, well at least not for the weekend!

Dressing for summer is always a difficult one for me, especially when having to go to the office. I don’t want to dress too loud but I don’t want to be stuck in black when the sun’s out either. So what to do? It’s all about finding that balance between the dark side and embracing the bright side.

Having scoured the high street and all the department stores that we know and love, I realised that there was one trend that was a staple this summer and probably will be for a little while yet. Nude.

No, not going nude!

Nude shades. Beige, cream, peach, light browns. The neutral palette of nude tones and shades is a big thing this Spring/Summer and can add a touch of class to any outfit. From handbags to shoes, from underwear to outerwear, everyone seems to be going nude and loving it.

Having spotted some key pieces that I have added to my wardrobe wishlist, I took to the one stop website that always has the answers... ASOS!

I love shopping at ASOS purely because it’s so easy to narrow down a search to a particular category, colour, designer, price and celebrity style. It’s quick and easy to use with a no fuss attitude.

Anyway, I thought I’d do some of the leg work for you and after ticking and unticking those little search boxes a million times over, I’ve finally narrowed down some of my favourite nude toned clothes and accessories.

These numbers are at the top of my wardrobe wishlist and I’m sure that I’ll find plenty more as I scour through sites and shops on a daily basis!

Have you found anything that you can’t wait to get your manicured nails on?

Let us know at the UK Fashion Addicts site!

Until next time...

P.S: All products mentioned and pictured in this article are readily available for your credit cards over at www.asos.com. Better hurry up though.. I’m heading over there now!
